lego monkie kid is probably my favourite animated series of all time. it was the show that encouraged me to reconnect with my chinese culture, introduced me to many people who i considered dear friends, helped me find my narrative style, and stoked the flames of my passion for worldbuilding, character analysis, and eastern mythology.
but enough about my personal attachment to the show: the music is beautiful, the animation is fluid, the humor never misses, the art is simply gorgeous and colourful, and its themes are something that i'm sure will resonate with many who are disconnected from their own cultural identity. lego monkie kid is a show that tells you that these mythological tales shouldn't be thrown away and forgotten. our culture and our folklore should be respected and remembered- as they are timeless stories from our ancestors that tell us we are not struggling alone.
